5 Mistakes Beginners Make When Learning Guitar Online (VIDEO)
TOP 5 MISTAKES BEGINNERS MAKE LEARNING GUITAR ONLINE
1- Tensing and twisting the wrist while strumming
Strumming motion begins at the elbow with just a little movement of the wrist. The most important thing it to RELAX the arm and just have enough tension to hold on top the pick
2- Picking is a small motion that should be done with movement of the wrist only
Resting the wrist is optional, but I think it will help most people be more accurate with their picking
3- Putting chord fingers down one at a time
Try making the shape of the chord with your fingers before putting the fingers down
4- Not knowing where the beat falls and understand ‘ghost strums’ (hand movements that you don’t strum)
5- Not building a repertoire of songs

Top 5 Guitar Mistakes and Bad Habits to Avoid for Beginners Learning through YouTube
As a beginner learning to play guitar through YouTube, it is important to avoid some common mistakes and bad habits that can hinder your progress. In this article, we will discuss the top 5 mistakes and bad habits that beginners should avoid, as identified by Andy from AndyGuitar.co.uk.
1. Wrist Strumming
The first and most important mistake to avoid is wrist strumming. Many beginners tend to move or tilt their wrist while strumming chords, which can cause inaccurate strumming action and hurt the little muscles in the wrist and hand. Instead, it is recommended to strum from the elbow while keeping the guitar close to your body and moving the arm in a pivoting fashion. By using the big muscles of the arm and moving from the elbow, you can achieve a more accurate strumming action without hurting your wrist and hand.
2. Separating Rhythm and Lead Playing
Another mistake that beginners make is treating strumming chords and picking single notes as the same thing. In reality, they are two separate techniques that should be treated differently. Strumming chords requires a movement of your arm from the elbow to achieve a consistent action and strum all the strings evenly. On the other hand, picking a single note requires you to rest your wrist on the guitar and move from the wrist for single note playing. Beginners should practice both techniques separately to master them effectively.
3. One Finger at a Time Chord Changes
When learning new chord shapes like G and C, beginners tend to place one finger down at a time when changing chords. However, this is a mistake and will hinder your progress in playing the guitar. Instead, it is recommended to place your fingers in the correct place, strum your chord, lift off the chord, and have that shape memorized in your fingers. By doing this, your hand will memorize the position and shape of each chord, making it easier to change chords quickly without having to place your fingers one at a time.
4. Not Holding Chords Properly
Another mistake that beginners make is not holding chords properly, particularly the C chord. The C chord requires a nasty stretch and can be difficult to play when your fingers are placed in line with the frets. Instead, it is recommended to place your fingers on an angle and have them touching at certain points to help memorize the position of your hand and chords.
5. Not Practicing Slowly
Lastly, beginners often make the mistake of not practicing slowly enough. Practicing slowly can help you master the techniques and muscle memory necessary to play the guitar effectively. It is important to take your time and not rush the learning process.
In conclusion, as a beginner learning guitar through YouTube, it is important to avoid these common mistakes and bad habits to improve your playing skills effectively. By following these tips and practicing regularly, you can become a better guitar player and enjoy playing music for years to come.
You’re a guitar nazi some of the greatest guitar players do stuff “incorrectly”
Thank you doctor strange

8:01 drops pick
Our guitar looked the same and also the pickguard and pickup except for the brand
scrolling all way down to find out which Yamaha's he's playing…didn't find it
Top mistake is learning tabs not note sheets
Working through the pick drop was great, I have to stop and search the entire neighborhood.
Anyone watching this without having a guitar?😅😅
8:01….yeah we can all agree he is never going to see that pick ever again.
Ahha 8:00😆
This video made me very happy to know that i learned all by myself and i kinda corrected all the mistakes, all i do weird is when picking single notes on the thinner strings is that i place my hand on the thicker strings like you taught here but i put my ring finger on the shield of the guitar(or below the thin E string) xD idk why but makes i more comnfortable to me somehow, that chord problem i also had it , puting one finger at the place at the time but when i learned a song(i used tabs and never used chords tbh) i had to adapt and ended up learning how to jump from one chord to another without doing the one finger at the time thing xD it's like, optimization, you first make it work, then you make it pretty.
2019?
Andy lost his pick at 8:00 nice play bro,
