Stretch the strings, remove the whammy bar, and the floyd is perfect because it almost never needs retuning past the micro tuners. Of course, up until you have a song that needs drop D or other tuning, then you have a legitimate reason to buy a second guitar…
I'm a beginner (2yrs) and my question: is a baritone something I should wait on?
I tend to agree with all your points. Good video.
Really sound and sensible advice, we have all fallen into the trap and its a painful lesson when you spend good money on a guitar and end up hating it, you talk lots of sense, young guns take note, this man is spot on, get advice and try as many guitars before you take the plunge, you will know when you find the right guitar, and its a great feeling. Great video Rob
Electric and Acoustic are kind of two different instruments. In a way.
I actually agree with all of these. I would add no super jumbos cause of their size. Maybe avoid stuff bought online from offshore sites.
Considering how flexible an acoustic is compared to electric as well as being (usually) much quieter it’s a better choice for beginners.
Having wider necks, higher action and greater string tension makes for a better learning/training ground to produce greater finger and grip strength, better finger positioning both for chording and leads and fingerpicking. Aside from technical performance, acoustic guitars are much easier to take busking, travelling, camping and are way more spontaneous in a party/jam situation, making these opportunities a lot more successful.
I steer beginners away from acoustics generally. Acoustics hurt soft fingers, getting a chord to ring clear is hard with weak finger strength and poor technique, they get boring if you really want to play rock, they’re loud opposed to an electric not plugged in, they often have a chunky neck and they are big and unwieldy.
If you want to just play acoustic, then that’s what you need. If you want to play both, learn on the electric. Imo only of course.
Lick at 2.24 is niiiice.
get the best guitar you can and master it
I bought a les paul before watching this video, and I say to myself "I'm lucky."
I am more acaustic player starting for electric guitar. Help me to choose between Ibanez GRG170DX, Ibanez GRX55B, Fender Affinity Stratocaster, ESP LTD LEC10KITBLK
My first came from sears in 1965,a Silvertone
I had to start on acoustic because when I started, I wasn’t strong enough to lift an electric lol
Great video, Straight to the point 👍
Man the Floyd rose thing is so true. As a sophomore in high school, I saved up and bought myself a guitar with one and it complicated things quite a bit for me
My first guitar was Hohner acoustic guitar and with it I learned the basic open chords and some riffs. Few months ago I got Fender Stratocaster and with it i've learned faster and playing is more comfortable and fun.
What about Flying V guitars!
Started with a 1985 fender super strat made in japan. Black headstock. Still my baby
